Bio
Triparna Banerjee is a filmmaker, screenwriter and impact producer committed to bringing stories from fringes to the fore that appeal across borders. Her work has been showcased at numerous film festivals, including TIFF, Busan IFF, CPH: DOX, Palm Springs, San Francisco, Red Sea IFF, BFI London, and Rotterdam, and acknowledged with selections at film forums, like L'atelier Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival, HAF at the Hong Kong Film Festival and APM at Busan International Film Festival. She is a Film Independent's Global Media Makers fellow.
Her recent short film, Nails, premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2024 in the International Competition section. She is the writer and impact producer of the documentary feature From the Shadows, which was awarded the reputed Hatched grant by Chicken & Egg Pictures, USA, and was nominated for the One World Media Awards in 2023. It also received the National Award in India in 2024. The film was selected for Doc Edge Kolkata, The Good Pitch and received the Global Film and Media Initiative Award, EIDF South Korea Industry Choice Award, and Yes Foundation’s Social Documentary Award.
Triparna has worked with independent filmmakers, production houses and networks such as Nickelodeon, Miditech, Hotstar, Zee5, and SVF Entertainment. She was the Head of Content and Acquisitions at CinePlay by Citoc Motion Pictures. Triparna's foray into professional screenwriting began as a scriptwriter for the popular children's television show Galli Galli Sim Sim (Sesame Street), produced by Miditech for Nickelodeon. She worked as an Associate Producer for the critically acclaimed feature film Frozen (2009), which premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival and garnered international recognition with over 30 festival selections and 18 awards, including 2 National Awards in India.
She is a member of documentary forums like EthnoKino, Global Impact Producers Alliance, Bitchitra Collective and BGDM. She is currently producing a documentary and a fiction feature, writing a series and developing her fiction feature film as a director. She is passionate about creating social change through her artistic skills. In addition to her filmmaking endeavours, she works as a visiting faculty for film schools and media institutes. Through her role, she empowers young minds to utilise the transformative potential of film, photography, and storytelling to drive change.
