Bio
Triparna is an independent filmmaker, committed to bringing stories from fringes to the fore that appeal across borders. Triparna's foray into professional screenwriting began as a scriptwriter for Sesame Street India. She worked as an Associate Producer for the critically acclaimed feature film 'Frozen' (2009), which premiered at TIFF and garnered international recognition with over 30 festival selections and 18 awards, including 2 National Awards in India. Her work as a writer and producer has been showcased at film festivals like Toronto, Busan, CPH:DOX, Palm Springs, Fribourg, BFI London, Rotterdam, and acknowledged with selections at film forums, like L'atelier Cinéfondation at the Cannes Film Festival, HAF at the Hong Kong Film Festival and APM at Busan International Film Festival and Film Independent's Global Media Makers Fellowship Program, supported by the US State Department Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs.
She is passionate about creating social change through her artistic skills, and Impact Produces documentary films. Her most recent work as a Writer and Impact producer, the documentary feature ‘From the Shadows’, received the National Awards in India and was awarded the Hatched grant by Chicken & Egg Pictures. The film was selected for Doc Edge Kolkata, The Good Pitch and received the Global Film and Media Initiative Award, EIDF South Korea Industry Choice Award, and Yes Foundation’s Social Documentary Award. She has been selected for the EthnoKino’s Mov(i)ement Fellowship 2024 - supported by the University of Bern and Locarno Film Festival. In addition to her filmmaking endeavours, she works as a visiting faculty for film schools and media institutes. Through her role, she empowers young minds to utilize the transformative potential of film, photography, and storytelling to drive change.
