Bio
Tim van den Hoff is a filmmaker and impact producer based in the Netherlands. With an MA in Philosophy, his work is rooted in critical inquiry and explores how public narratives shape our understanding of history, identity, and social responsibility. He began his media career at Dutch public broadcaster VPRO, contributing to the award-winning global crossmedia project Metropolis, before shifting toward independent documentary production. Tim directs and produces his own films and collaborates on others as a producer and story consultant, focusing on projects with strong educational or social impact. As an impact producer, he has led extensive outreach campaigns to connect films with their intended communities—especially within education.
For his documentary Monumental Crossroads, which explores contested heritage in the American South, Tim initiated a grassroots campaign reaching thousands of educators. The film is now used in over a hundred university programs across the U.S. and Europe. He has joined panel discussions, delivered guest lectures, and developed a classroom discussion kit to support critical conversations around public memory and history. His latest film, Elevating Piet Hein, interrogates the legacy of a Dutch colonial figure and was co-developed with Network Film Education Netherlands. A classroom kit was created alongside the film and distributed to all Dutch secondary schools, tying into the national history curriculum and exam requirements. Tim also teaches media storytelling in higher education and contributes to media literacy initiatives.
