Bio

Tania Ximena (Director) Cd. Sahagún, Hgo. Mexico. 1985 Visual artist and film director. Her work is the result of lengthy field investigations in areas with multiple ecological, social, and cultural layers. Her first feature film, the documentary-fiction hybrid “POBO TZU – White Night” (2021), explores the collective effort of a community to unearth their old hometown, buried by the eruption of the Chichonal volcano in 1982. It was supported by EFICINE 189 production grant and the Visions Sud Est Fund. It was screened by various international film festivals as the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, the Moscow International Film Festival, and the Morelia International Film Festival, and won prizes such as DOC NYC Kaleidoscope Grand Jury Prize. Ximena’s visual artwork has been shown in numerous contemporary art museums and art biennials in Mexico and abroad.
