Susy Peña is a self-shooting documentary director, producer, and consultant. At just 24 years old, she began her career as a Producer and Director for a youth cultural public TV channel in Venezuela. In early 2019, The Guardian commissioned her debut film, The Breadmaker, a documentary produced in Venezuela. Her second short documentary, This is Forever, was selected for prestigious festivals such as Blackstar Film Festival, Hot Docs Canada, Aesthetica Film Festival, and the London Short Film Festival. Currently, she is in post-production for her third short documentary, La Morochita, and in the middle of production for her first feature-length documentary, Purity.
In addition to her filmmaking, Susy works as a research and video consultant, collaborating on media campaigns with organizations like UNFPA. Her expertise lies in addressing gender-based violence and maternal health, and she has extensive experience working with vulnerable communities on sensitive topics. These include refugees, survivors of domestic violence, children, youth, sex workers, homeless populations, and more. Through her work, Susy strives to amplify underrepresented voices and shed light on critical social issues.
