Bio

Emmy-nominated producer Simone Pero is Founder of For Impact Productions, a U.S. based social impact film production company. Her current projects include Rachel Feldman’s LILLY starring Patricia Clarkson, Yvonne Russo's documentary VIVA VERDI!, and Disney Onyx's docu-series RING OF FIRE: THE LIFE OF ANNIE MAE AQUASH also directed by Russo. Simone was a producer on Jennifer Fox’s THE TALE starring Laura Dern which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, was nominated for 25 awards including two Emmy’s and a Golden Globe, and distributed worldwide by HBO Films. Under Simone's leadership, the film was lauded for its groundbreaking film-anthropy model and global social impact campaign which drew global attention to the worldwide child sexual abuse epidemic and served as an important element in the passage of Statute of Limitations laws, international advocacy initiatives at the United Nations, and clinical and activist advancements. In 2018, Simone also executive produced Tom Donahue's gender-equality themed documentary THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Simone has also lead notable film impact and distribution campaigns including A WOMAN, A PART with Maggie Siff, THE C WORD with Morgan Freeman, and the Emmy-nominated CNN Films hit ESCAPE FIRE: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare. Her filmmaking career began as producer on Alice Elliott’s powerful examination of disabilities activism in BODY & SOUL: DIANA & KATHY broadcast on PBS. Named by Cynopsis Media as a Top Woman in Media in Community Building, Simone is an active leader in the media and entertainment industry, and recently served as Board President of New York Women in Film & Television, and is a current member of the Producers Guild of America and the Television Academy. Simone is on faculty at the Stony Brook University Killer Films MFA in Film program.
