Bio

Shaimaa Attieh, a freelance journalist passionate about covering arts, culture, gender equality, and societal challenges, dedicates her full-time role to fundraising and public relations at Yalla Kafala, an NGO committed to promoting kafala (adoption) and dismantling associated stigma within the Egyptian society. Recently, Shaimaa embarked on a new career path as a producer and joined the Egyptian Film Producers Club. Her current project involves creating a feature film with a transgender woman in the lead role. This project includes a comprehensive impact campaign spanning Egypt and the Arab world. Its primary goal is to foster greater awareness, acceptance, and the eradication of stigma surrounding the LGBTQ+ community. Having participated in the Aflamuna Impact Lab, Shaimaa aims to expand her knowledge of impact producing worldwide. Her ultimate aim is to bring the best practices she learns back to her home country, Egypt. She hopes that her work in cinema will make a tangible difference.
