Bio
Based in Medellín, Colombia, Sandra Tabares Duque is an international audiovisual producer of award-winning projects and films; founder of Sandelion Productions specializing in transmedia, immersive narratives and impact production. Sandra has been a juror of several Film Funds including a reader for the Climate Story Fund from Doc Society, The Colombian Film Fund, amongst others, she has taught Film Production at the University of Antioquia, University of Pontificia Bolivariana (Medellin) and has done training and presentations at international festivals and events including Good Pitch Colombia, México & Brazil, DocsMX, Ambulante, MIDBO, Chile Docs, amongst others. Some of her previous film productions are the Quipu Project (UK / Peru), an interactive multimedia documentary work selected in various competitions such as IDFA, Interactive Day Tribeca, HotDocs, iDocs, among others. Quipu: Calls for Justice, in association with The Guardian Newspaper and Bertha Foundation, winner of the Award of Merit at the Impact Docs Awards, US; Award for the defense of human rights of indigenous women at the Ficwallmapu Festival, Chile; finalist for Social Innovation Media Awards, US and for the One World Media Awards, UK, among others; InnSæi, The Sea Within (UK / Iceland), feature documentary available on iTunes, Video on Demand; Parabola del Retorno (Colombia) winner of the NUMAX Award at the Margenes Festival, the Jury Prize at the Cine Panorama de Colombia, Paris and the Cali International Film Festival. Among her latest productions are the interactive collaborative transmedia projects Corona Haikus and COiNVITE, the feature documentary Las Razones del Lobo by Marta Hincapié, selected in more than twenty international festivals including official competitions in the Latin American film festival of Biarritz 2020, FIDBA, Márgenes, FICVIÑA, among others obtaining the jury award at the Dona i Cinema Biennial. She is currently producing the feature films Sundays (Postproduction) and Elena gave birth to a beautiful child (in Production) both by Juan Soto, Will they ever come back? by Ángela Carabalí and the fictional short film La Mona by Laura Gutiérrez.
