Bio

Ruggero Romano is an Italian film director, producer and speaker based between Vancouver and Venezia. After moving his hometown Torino to Vancouver in 2016, he graduated from Vancouver Film School and began his journey in filmmaking for social impact. While working in Vancouver as a dishwasher and salesman, Ruggero produced and directed documentaries in collaboration with marginalized communities across British Columbia. When noticing the social inequality that shaped the city, he decided to amplify the voices of the homeless community in Downtown Eastside Vancouver, releasing his debut feature documentary V6A with the purpose to dissolve the stigma projected onto homelessness, addiction and mental health. Ruggero is currently producing and distributing films for social impact through his organization Movies Move Us, and recently released his latest Cielo Aperto. He loves jazz, geopolitics, capoeira, and is always happy to support filmmakers in their journeys to tell meaningful stories. He also has a very sharp nose.
