Bio

Rowena Potts is a filmmaker (director, writer, and editor) with a particular interest in the history, ethics and evolving practices and potential of documentary media in all its diversity. Her short films explore a wide range of subjects, including the entanglements of the human and non-human, and the complexity of our unfolding relationship to off-Earth environments. They have screened in international festivals and museums around the world. Rowena holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from New York University, and a graduate diploma in documentary from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS). She earned her bachelor's degree in Comparative Religion from Harvard University. In 2023 she participated in Documentary Australia's Impact Producer Program. She is currently a part-time Lecturer in Creative Practice at AFTRS.
