Bio

Dr. Robin J. Hayes is Co-Executive Producer of the forthcoming Fremantle series Sandokan (from the producers of Transformers and Queen of the South). Currently, she is an impact consultant for the Beholden Films documentary, Instrumental, which follows a Harlemite who drummed her way through classical music’s glass ceiling. After graduating from St. George’s — an exclusive boarding school — and NYU, Robin led dozens of humanitarian aid missions to rebel communities in Latin America. Then, she completed her graduate studies at Yale and the Sorbonne (in Paris) and became a professor of political science, international affairs, and African American studies at several prestigious colleges and universities. Robin reinvented herself by directing, writing, and impact producing the award-winning documentary Black and Cuba (Peacock, Tubi) — which was exhibited at dozens of film festivals, museums, and universities in the US and abroad. She has also produced impact for the acclaimed PBS film Los Hermanos/The Brothers and conducted research for Demi Lovato’s Child Star and Netflix’s Mountain Queen. Robin is the Pulitzer Prize-nominated author of the history book, Love for Liberation, and was selected for the Women in Film Shorts Lab, which is funded by Google. Robin is based in Venice, California.
