Bio

Renata Lobo is a journalist from Rio de Janeiro, a graduate of PUC-Rio with a postgraduate degree in International Relations from FGV-Rio. She worked for eight years as a producer and editor at the news channel GloboNews, where she honed her ability to identify pressing social issues and transform them into topics for news programs, weekly shows, and documentaries—contributing to nationally relevant debates. As an executive producer, she won two Silver Medals at the New York Film Festival for the documentaries "Shores of a War: Heroes and Victims in Mosul" and "Kobani Lives On", both directed by two-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Gabriel Chaim. She was also awarded second place in the ICRC Award for International Humanitarian Coverage for the news segment "The Life of Rohingya Refugees, a Muslim People". With a deep interest in geopolitics and human rights, Renata has traveled to countries such as Iran, Lebanon, and Iraq. While in Iraqi Kurdistan, she interviewed and photographed Yazidi women who had been kidnapped by the Islamic State and were seeking international support. In 2018, her desire to explore the world led her to travel to more than ten countries, reshaping her perspective with each border crossed. This journey took a transformative turn in 2019 when she moved to Africa to become a Communications Officer for the United Nations’ World Food Programme—the UN agency dedicated to fighting hunger and recipient of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. Living in Guinea-Bissau for a year and working on hunger relief and the COVID-19 response was a powerful and life-changing experience. After years of cultural immersion, Renata returned to Brazil, where she is now the Executive Producer and Impact Producer of the project "Widows of Living Husbands".
