Bio
Pulkit Datta (he/him) is a filmmaker, impact producer, and film programmer based in New York. With over fifteen years of experience, he has contributed to a diverse range of projects, including scripted films, documentaries, commercials, short films, music videos, and multimedia campaigns. His work has been showcased at prestigious festivals such as Toronto, Tribeca, Atlanta, Cinequest, Fantasia, LAAPFF, Cleveland, and OutFest. Notable credits include ISRAELISM (AppleTV, Kinema, Tubi, Amazon Prime), INVISIBLE, a feature documentary on fibromyalgia (Amazon Prime, Tubi), the gun-violence focused short documentary DO WE BELONG? (The Atlantic, 2018 IDA Doc Award shortlist), and the forthcoming climate activism documentary series VS. GOLIATH (CNN Original Series + Film Independent Lab, Gotham Film Market), as well as JERSEY BOY, the first independent and mainstream feature film centered on the Sikh-American experience.
In addition to his filmmaking career, Pulkit has spearheaded impact campaigns for several films, including AFTER WINTER, SPRING, a documentary about family farmers combating industrial agriculture, ISRAELISM (with over 400 screenings), DO WE BELONG? (featuring public policy events focused on gun control and hate crimes), and GENERATION GREEN NEW DEAL - PODCAST (engaging youth climate activists through social media and virtual conversations).
Pulkit is a member of ADoc, the Doc Producers Alliance, the Video Consortium, and BAFTA Connect. He was a a Producing Fellow at the Center for Asian American Media as well as Impact Partners. Deeply committed to fostering diversity and community in the industry, Pulkit has launched initiatives to support underrepresented talent in American film and television, developed alternative distribution and impact strategies, and curated programming for various film festivals.
