Bio

Poppy Walker is a director and producer. In 2008 she established Propeller Pictures to create human rights focused documentary films, including: feature documentary Not So Straight, shorts Sophat and Nasear and Bright Day for Cambodian television, ABC- screened film On Her Shoulders and several advocacy films for clients including: World Vision, UN Women and Oxfam. In 2014, Poppy co-founded the film studio H.W Collective, to strengthen opportunities for regional film production. H.W. Collective’s films The Battle, Hitch, The Ghost in the Machine and Drummer Girl have screened at festivals including: Santa Barbara, Flickerfest, Aesthetica, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Lunafest and the Oberhausen International Film Festival. Poppy’s short documentary Dust Devil premiered at Flickerfest and screened at Big Sky, Hot Docs and Ashland International Documentary Festival, where it won Best Short Documentary. Poppy holds a BA in Arts (Journalism) from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Documentary from the Victorian College of the Arts.
