Bio

Naomi Ball is a director, producer, and impact producer specialising in documentary and fiction films. With a strong commitment to social and environmental justice, Naomi's work is deeply influenced by her experiences as a Queer woman, driving her passion for amplifying diverse voices and creating impactful, entertaining narratives that challenge perspectives and inspire change. Naomi’s career path began in fundraising and communications roles at organisations like Amnesty International and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, before transitioning into filmmaking. She later worked at a social enterprise video production company, producing content for NGOs, social enterprises, and government departments, which paved the way for her career in documentary filmmaking. Naomi’s directing credits include the Screen Australia-funded documentary WHO I AM, a coming-of-age tale about a trans and Autistic teen navigating family life, which premiered at Doc Edge in 2022, earned her an Australian Directors Guild award nomination. She produced an accompanying impact campaign that took the film to LGBTQIA+ and Autistic communities across Australia and the film was released on 10Play and Paramount+. She also directed SEARCHING FOR THE TASSIE TIGER (2021), which garnered 3.7 million views on VICE YouTube and was broadcast on SBS VICELAND. In 2023, she was an Impact Producer on the regenerative agriculture feature doc RACHEL'S FARM (2023). Naomi hails from Aotearoa/New Zealand and currently lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.
