Bio

Monica Victoria is a non-binary queer visual artist and community activist born and raised in Tiotiá:ke/Mooniyang (Montréal). They are the Head of Distribution, Marketing, and Discoverability at Eyesteelfilm.

They hold a BFA Specialization in Film Production from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University and a DEC in Cinema, Video, and Communications from Dawson College.

Monica’s roots stem from many years of organizing within leftist grassroots groups, social movements, harm reduction initiatives, and participating in mutual aid networks, most specifically around supporting and advocating for marginalized communities and at-risk groups. They also have a long history of running DIY spaces and coordinating cultural events in and around Montréal.

In recent years, they have shifted their focus and energy into making sure the films in their wheelhouse have the furthest reach and most meaningful impact.

When they are not working at Eyesteelfilm they always have their hands busy, crafting across a wide range of creative mediums, or working on homesteading projects on their rural property in the mountains north of Montréal.
