Bio
Mina Laamo is a documentary director, screenwriter, producer and founder of the production company Koko Production. Koko Production, founded in 2017 and based in Helsinki, produces creative documentaries and media art. Mina Laamo is known for the creative documentaries Sorrow Tamers (2022), Becoming Me (2015) and The Pests (2007). In her own films she has explored grief, the sense of inadequacy, and fear of otherness. A three-screen documentary installation Four Trick Pony premiered in Turku Art Museum in 2020. At the moment she is working with a creative documentary and media art work called A Nature Documentary on Dying Birds. In addition to film and media art, Mina Laamo has completed impact campaigns in cooperation with various organisations. The impact campaigns have intended to spark change in society in accommodating emotions and approval reaction of them to increase the emotional, psychological and social well-being of people. Mina Laamo graduated from Aalto University majoring in Documentary Film. She also obtained another Master of Arts degree, majoring in Comparative Literature and Gender Studies, from the University of Helsinki.
