Bio

The journey has been long (30 years) and full of fruitful experiences in the world of media. A world that is ever changing and fluid. Everyday you learn and yet you are hungry for even more! After graduating in Foods and Nutrition I followed my passion for the arts & did my postgraduate Diploma in Film Direction from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 1987. Since then I have been working in the various streams of Media Industry. I started my career in advertising, films and then moved to television with shows on mainstream entertainment channels like Zee, Sony, Star Plus, Doordarshan as well as niche channels like POGO, Disney, Epic, Discovery & National Geographic. As the Creative Director India of Pogo Channel, a part of the Turner International Broadcasting, I was part of several successful properties like MAD, FAQ, Hole in the Wall, Galli Galli Sim Sim, CIA, Sunaina, Pogo All Stars PAKA etc… Prior to this I was also the Creative Director on Play House Disney, an educational show for toddlers using music and singing. I was also the Creative Project Head on live events organized by Turner using live Cartoon Characters and performed in front of a live audience at theme parks in Delhi. This involved intensive training with theatre professionals and coordination with the theme park people to ensure a smooth and entertaining roll out I have also made several documentaries on different issues like the status of Indian craftsmen and artisans, on the mega disasters, on personalities like Ela Bhatt, Mallika Sarabhai, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Ritu Kumar and many more. These involved intensive research, travel and interaction with experts in a variety of fields. Some of them have been aired on National Geographic, Discovery, DD. I have also been a part of developing and executing shows as well as brand specific content for the digital platform. Some of the brands I have created content for are Airtel, MP tourism, Skoda etc.. One of my recent shows is on the OTT platform VIU clips. Recently I have also been the Director on a live ART Show – ‘Imaginarium – it’s a wonderful world’ with Rob for Sony Music & Bookmyshow I was also the Show runner and director of another art show “ Disney Imagine that” with Rob, for Disney Channel I am the visiting faculty at SIMC (Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communications), Seamedu, Global Skills Academy, Whistling Woods among others and have been on the panel of judging student films and television shows. I am a passionate traveler and this passion combined with my documentary experience has led towards rediscovering Indian crafts people and their exquisite handicrafts. To keep this passion alive, I have set up a small Handicrafts store Art Etc… as well as the Not for Profit Org, Kalavriksh Handicrafts Foundation. Art Etc is now a successful brand and I would like to use our experience through this journey to further the cause of indigenous art and traditional crafts of India. Over the years I have built a network of passionate artists, product designers, social workers who are keen to collaborate with us and work in the sector. www.artetc.in
