Bio

Leeanne Torpey is a freelance impact producer, recently working on the feature film / ABC Series Ithaka: A Fight to Free Julian Assange, ABC / BBC Studios premium drama series Wakefield, feature documentary and two part ABC Series Big Deal, Regenerating Australia and ABC series Magda’s Big Health Check. She is passionate about telling stories and has over 15 years of experience working in media and human rights. Her career includes: leading the Global Campaign to End Child Immigration Detention, effectively lobbying the UN, reporting for ABC and working with advocates to utilise stories for positive social change. Leeanne received a RRRT Human Rights Award and a Google Media Award, and she has a Graduate Diploma in Journalism and a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
