Bio

After studying sociology and socioeconomics, Laura Gabay studied filmmaking at HEAD - Geneva (Haute École d'Art et Design) and at EICTV (Cuba), specializing in documentary. Her first short film, Enquête 62, is selected in several festivals and wins the audience award at the Filmets International Festival (Badalona). Her second short film, Sweet Salty Wind, is selected at Visions du réel and IDFA, among others. Since 2018, she has been teaching Super 8 film workshops in collaboration with the University of Geneva. Since 2021, she has been teaching audiovisual workshops to unaccompanied refugee minors in different parts of Switzerland. In 2020, she produces the short film Carbon, by Davide Tisato, which wins the award for best Swiss film at the Winterthur Film Festival. In 2021, he co-produces the short film Criatura, which wins the Pardino d'Oro at the Locarno International Film Festival. In 2022, she produces the short film Fantasmagoría by Juan Francisco Gonzalez, which premieres at DocLisboa. Her first feature-length documentary as director On remembering, made essentially with sound and visual archives, will have his Word Premiere at Visions du réel (2023).
