Bio

Kristin Kohlmeyer is a producer + writer/director based in New York City. In addition to her work as a producer in documentary television, she is also an independent filmmaker and impact producer. She was introduced to impact producing working on the film, Fireboys (2021) about the barriers formerly incarcerated firefighters face as they re-enter society and seek work due to social and economical bias. She helped to build strategic impact partnerships, create key educational curriculum and orchestrate virtual community screenings as part of the film’s impact campaign. She looks forward to building upon her experience in impact producing by working on more impact campaigns and collaborating with other working impact producers. Most recently, she has been working as a development producer on an upcoming six part series entitled The Age of Influence for Hulu with ABC News that aims to “reveal the truth behind influencer culture through intimate, first-person accounts of some the biggest social media stories of our time.” She also Associate Produced another upcoming 3-part documentary series for Discovery +  with Talos Films — a series about the troubled teen industry. This series will feature inside accounts from survivors, whistleblowers, and activists of an organized system of child abuse that takes place in America’s ”troubled teen” industry and tracks its origins from the cult, Synanon, through to government backed programs onto the money and power that fuels programs today. She got her start in documentary film as an archive researcher and production assistant on HBOMax’s Agents of Chaos after her time in Columbia University’s Film Producing MFA program where she produced and collaborated on several films that have gone on to receive acclaim at film festivals. Before her move to New York, she started a successful, independent video company called Kohlmeyer Media where she produced and created wedding films, short documentaries and brand content. Her goals in filmmaking are to engage social consciousness, impact communities, ignite passion and create change in the world at large. She plans to pursue this path as she further develops her career.
