Bio

Koval is a filmmaker and producer based in India. Her first documentary as a producer, a feature documentary about climate and Koli fishermen titled Against The Tide received the Special Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival. Her short doc as director/producer titled She Run The World, about young women leading the zero waste movement in India, screened at Hot Docs Canada and DCEFF in 2023. Her work has been supported by IDFA, Sundance Institute, Docs by The Sea, DOKLeipzig, Catapult, Hot Docs and more. She is a graduate of the Eurodoc program and currently a Getting Real Fellow at the International Documentary Association (IDA). Her work is focused on examining the dominant gaze that defines filmmaking, be it from geographical or social location, and how to reverse that.
