Dr Julia Hammett-Jamart, Managing Director of Catalyst Films
Catalyst Films is a non-profit specialising in social impact campaigns for film, television and new media, with a particular focus on projects that are international in scope. It is headed up by Australian/British impact producer, Julia Hammett-Jamart who, in her former role as Managing Director of Best Impact Movies, was associated with numerous major campaigns including Zinder (lead impact producer), Shadow Game and Climate Justice.
Julia Hammett-Jamart brings to impact producing a wealth of experience in film production, policy and education. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences, Media and Communication, has produced and directed documentaries for SBS-TV; has published extensively on the subject of screen policy and coproduction and was formerly Manager of Governance and Strategic Planning at Screen Australia. Julia regularly leads workshops and roundtables for international industry events, including New Images Festival Paris, Le Sommet des Arcs, Le Festival des Trois Continents and EURODOC. She also teaches in the professional Masters program at the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle and is a standing member of the Steering Committee for the ‘Scholar in Residence’ program of the Produire au Sud international co-production workshop. In her capacity as head of the Coproduction Research Network, Julia provides consultancy services to high level international organisations including the European Audiovisual Observatory and STEPS South Africa (Social Transformation and Empowerment Projects).
