Bio

Jorge Caballero. He has a degree in technical engineering and audiovisual communication, and also an MSc in interactive media. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in cinema and artificial intelligence. Lecturer at universities such as Pompeu Fabra and Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona. He has given workshops at UniValle Colombia, DOCSMX Mexico, DocumentaMadrid Spain, or San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, among many others. Researcher on impact metrics in cinema. He has produced a virtual reality series with the UN on the peace process in Colombia and developed a study with behavioral scientists on the ability of film to generate pro-social behavioral changes. He conducts data studies on the creation of films, questioning authorship in an audiovisual ecosystem overflowing with media. He has been a jury member for several international film grants and festivals; and is a member of the selection committee of the IDFA Bertha Fund. He's a co-founder of the production company GusanoFilms (Barcelona - Bogotá). He has directed/produced films and digital projects awarded and exhibited at festivals such as HotDocs, SXSW, DocNYC, Mar del Plata, Visions Du Reel, Cartagena, and Malaga among many others. He has won the national documentary award in Colombia two times, has been a Sundance Institute fellow in the Stories of Change program, and selected for the Emerging Producers of the Jihlava festival, and the Berlinale Talents. Chosen by Variety magazine as one of the 10 producers on the rise in 2020 in Catalonia. His work has been supported by broadcasters and funds such as Tribeca FI, Discovery Channel, Ibermedia, TVCatalunya, ICEC, ICAA, SeñalColombia, ARTE, and YLE, among others.
