Bio

Originally from New York City, Gwendolyn Alston has lived in Spain since 1988. She speaks fluent Spanish and French, and is versed in Italian and Catalan. She comes from a marketing and publishing background and holds a PhD in Comparative Literature. Together with her sister Angela and associate, Lisa, Gwen manages the agency MocaMedia, which specializes in the design and execution of impact, outreach and marketing campaigns for independent films. MocaMedia launched in 2008 with the film A Sea Change, about ocean acidification and climate change, which screened on all seven continents and won multiple awards, including the NOAA Environmental Hero Award. MocaMedia has since worked on numerous projects, as consultants and as hands on strategists, on films ranging in subjects from social issues, the environment, to spirituality and health. Gwen has taught Digital Marketing and Social Media Management at Berklee College of Music on their Valencia, Spain campus, Syracuse University in Madrid, EDEM Business School and Escuela de Música Reina Sofía. Her motto: “Be in the world.” Gwen spends her time between Europe and the U.S. for work, family and friends, but is definitely up for exploring other parts of the world.
